Trying to run your errands with children in the car can sometimes be a 
frustrating experience. And if you are planning to take a trip or travel with kids, you will need to find some ways of keeping them entertained before they drive you up a wall. The next time you find yourself with a bored child in the car or travel with kids, try these activities to keep them entertained:
For Younger Children
– Keep a backpack filled with small toys like packs of crayons and paper, little action figures or dolls, or a deck of cards. Change the toys out occasionally so they feel new.
– Give your kids household items like tinfoil and pipe cleaners. You will be amazed at their creativity, and it doesn’t make a mess.
– Find music that your kids like and sing along with them. If you sing along, you may be able to keep them entertained!
– Window cling stickers can be entertaining, and can be moved and rearranged. Get the kind specifically for windows, so you don’t find yourself trying to scrub adhesive off the windows later.
For Older Kids
– For longer trips, encourage them to keep a travel journal of the things they see and the places they go.
– Print out Sudoku puzzles or other crossword puzzles. See who can solve them first.
For Everyone
– Try playing a travel game like collecting license plates or travel bingo. You can find game cards online to print out.
– Read! A long car drive is the perfect opportunity to get lost in a great book. Getting a new book as a treat will be exciting and they will want to read it.
– When all else fails, handheld video games or portable DVD players can keep kids entertained for hours.
