Memorial Day


As a national day of remembrance, Memorial Day honors and remembers those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation. It is a day when Americans pause to remember the sacrifice of those in the military, first responders and their families.

Retired Gen. Colin Powell once stated, "Here at the Capitol, just weeks before the end of the Civil War, a weary President Lincoln pleaded with his fellow citizens, to 'bind up the nation's wounds, to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and his orphan.'"

Today, we honor service members from America's past wars. It is a day to reach out in support of all the soldiers and their families who have made the ultimate sacrifice for America's freedom.

Annual Memorial Day Celebration

Eternal Valley Memorial Park will bring the community together to celebrate, honor and remember America's heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty.

The distinctive sound and appearance of the AT-6 planes of the Condor Squadron flying overhead will mark the commencement of the Annual Tribute to Veterans, organized by the Santa Clarita Valley Veterans Memorial Committee and Eternal Valley Memorial Park. More than 500 area Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Boy Scouts will place more than 5,000 American flags on the graves of veterans.

Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to the Veterans Memorial Wall for the reading of the 850-plus names inscribed on the wall.
